Zscaler ThreatLabz observed over 30,000 lookalike domains impersonating 500+ major brands between Feb-Jul 2024, with 10,000 deemed malicious; activity heavily targeted Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, frequently leveraged SSL certificates (often from Let's Encrypt) to appear legitimate, and used messaging platforms and user typos to drive traffic—underscoring the need for modern web scanning, DNS protection, and ongoing security awareness training.
