Japan’s National Police Agency attributes over 200 cyber incidents between Dec 2019 and 2024 to the China-aligned APT ‘MirrorFace.’ Campaigns began with spear-phishing emails—often geopolitical-themed—to deliver malicious attachments or links (frequently macro-enabled Office documents) and deployed stealthy malware to maintain long-term access, targeting think tanks, government, media, and later semiconductor, aerospace, and academic organizations.
