Threat Actors Are Increasingly Abusing AI Tools to Help With Scams

Microsoft’s Cyber Signals report warns that cybercriminals are leveraging generative AI to lower the barrier for fraud and cyberattacks, using AI to automate reconnaissance and produce convincing social engineering at scale—such as spear-phishing, deepfakes, voice cloning, fake reviews, and fraudulent e-commerce sites—alongside AI-driven job scams that create fake postings, profiles, and interviews, emphasizing the need for stronger security culture and user awareness.
