Fragnesia is a recently disclosed Linux kernel page-cache corruption vulnerability (CVSS 7.8) that allows unprivileged users to gain root privileges; a proof-of-concept exploit exists that can produce a root shell and the flaw poses heightened risk in cloud/container environments. Upstream patches are available but not yet widely shipped, and temporary mitigations (disabling esp modules or user namespaces) have significant operational impacts such as breaking IPsec or rootless containers.
