Android's emergency alerts just got a major map upgrade - but change this setting first

ZDNET reports that a March 2026 Android update adds a map to Wireless Emergency Alerts so users can see the alerted area relative to their location, and notes that not all alerts automatically override Do Not Disturb. Users can adjust which alert categories sound and enable the "Always alert at full volume" option under Settings > Safety & emergency > Wireless emergency alerts.
