Google's AI Mode can search your email and photos now too - how it works

Google is rolling out an experimental AI Mode in Search that, with opt-in permission, connects to users' Gmail and Google Photos to deliver personalized, Gemini 3-powered responses and recommendations, with the ability to refine results via follow-up prompts or feedback. Available in English to individual Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US, the feature can be disabled, and Google states emails/photos aren’t used to train models, though personalization may occasionally misinterpret user context.
