Mobile malware evolution in 2024

Kaspersky’s 2024 mobile-threat report details widespread mobile malware and fraud activity: 33.3 million blocked attacks, ~1.13M malicious or unwanted installation packages detected, and 68,730 mobile banking-Trojan packages. The report highlights dominant adware and RiskTool families, the rapid rise of Mamont banking Trojans and related distribution campaigns (phishing links, fake parcel-tracking apps), NFC-based card-theft scams, preinstalled malware on devices, and a malicious SDK (SparkCat) used to exfiltrate images and cryptocurrency recovery phrases across multiple regions.
