The mobile malware threat landscape in 2023

Kaspersky's 2023 mobile threat report summarizes detections and trends across Android devices: ~33.8 million blocked attacks, ~1.315 million new installation packages (including ~153k banking Trojan packages and ~11.2k ransomware packages). Adware and RiskTool dominated detections, with notable increases in reuse of existing malicious packages, malicious apps found on Google Play, trojanized WhatsApp/Telegram mods, region-specific banking/SMS theft families (notably Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia), and prevalence of scam/fake investment apps used for fraud.
