Analysis of user password strength

A Kaspersky study analyzing 193 million leaked passwords shows modern GPUs (e.g., RTX 4090) and advanced guessing algorithms can crack 59% of user passwords within an hour and 73% within a month, with only 23% resisting for more than a year. The research benchmarks brute-force, dictionary-informed, and n-gram-based methods, finding dictionary words and common patterns significantly weaken passwords, while complexity and length (especially with mixed character types) markedly improve resistance. It recommends random, manager-generated passwords, mnemonic phrases, uniqueness across sites, and checking against known leaks.
