20+ hospitals in Romania hit hard by ransomware attack on IT service provider

Over 20 Romanian hospitals using the Hipocrate IT platform were hit by a ransomware attack (BackMyData/Phobos variant) that encrypted data and disrupted operations, forcing staff to use pen-and-paper; attackers demanded 3.5 BTC, the National Cybersecurity Directorate advised against paying and reported most hospitals have backups while many others disconnected from the internet as a precaution.
