Hospital fined after patient data found in street food wrappers

A Thai hospital was fined after more than 1,000 protected patient records that had been sent for secure disposal were found to have been improperly handled by the contracted disposal business and recycled as snack wrappers; the Personal Data Protection Committee imposed a fine of 1.21 million baht on the hospital and 16,940 baht on the disposal business owner.
