A dataset alleged to contain personally identifiable information for about 70 million AT&T customers was listed for sale on the Dark Web; AT&T says the data appears authentic and likely dates to 2019 or earlier (impacting ~7.6M current and ~65.4M former account holders) while investigators have not found evidence it was exfiltrated from AT&T systems. The exposed information reportedly includes full names, emails, mailing addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, account numbers and passcodes, raising significant risk of identity theft, phishing, and account takeover.
