The FBI arrested 19-year-old Remington Goy Ogletree, alleged member of the Scattered Spider cybercrime group, for a phishing operation (Oct 2023–May) that purportedly compromised two telecommunications providers and a US national bank, resulting in stolen credentials, API keys and cryptocurrency; the actor allegedly used hijacked telecom platforms to send ~8.5 million and 140,000 phishing SMS messages and sold access on the dark web, with the arrest produced via an FBI sting posing as a crypto laundering service.
