Private Internet Search Is Still Finding Its Way

The article surveys emerging private-search technologies, explaining how MongoDB's queryable encryption enables encrypted exact- and range-searches, Fortanix's confidential-computing approach protects AI prompts and enables secure enclave processing for retrieval and model validation, and Duality's lattice-based encryption supports computation on encrypted data; it also highlights implementation and proof challenges in ensuring true privacy across complex hardware and software stacks.
