Lookout researchers uncovered EagleMeSpy, a headless surveillanceware product used by Chinese public security bureaus that, since at least 2017, exfiltrates chat/text messages, recordings, call logs, contacts, location, and network activity from Android devices. The tool requires physical access for installation, is not distributed via app stores, shows ongoing development and improved obfuscation, and appears to have multiple clients with a likely iOS variant.
