Ways iOS Sideloading Can Be More Secure

This commentary examines the security risks introduced by allowing sideloading on iOS under the EU Digital Markets Act, evaluating Apple's notarization process, sandboxing, and developer identity checks. It argues that while notarization and sandboxing provide meaningful protections, they are imperfect (citing past fraudulent apps and developer accounts) and recommends enhanced real-time runtime monitoring and behavioral analytics to detect malicious apps that may evade review.
