Interpol Cyber-Fraud Action Nets More Than 5K Arrests

Operation HAECHI V was a five-month (July–November) global law enforcement operation involving authorities from 40 countries that resulted in over 5,500 arrests and more than $400 million in virtual assets seized. The operation targeted seven types of cyber fraud—voice phishing, romance scams, online sextortion, investment fraud, illegal online gambling, business email compromise, and e-commerce fraud—dismantling a voice-phishing syndicate tied to $1.1 billion in losses and prompting Interpol to issue a Purple Notice and warnings about a USDT token-approval cryptocurrency wallet scam.
