Solving the Cybersecurity Skills Gap With Racial Inclusivity

This commentary discusses the underrepresentation of Black professionals in cybersecurity and its implications for innovation, resiliency, and talent pipelines. It urges organizations to pursue intentional DEI efforts—such as partnerships with HBCUs, structured mentorship and sponsorship, anti-bias hiring and retention practices, and open, inclusive cultures—to expand access, strengthen defenses, and build a more equitable and effective cybersecurity workforce.
