Yakuza Victim Data Leaked in Japanese Agency Attack

A phishing attack on the Kumamoto Prefecture Violence Prevention Movement Promotion Center led to unauthorized access of a staff workstation and a potential leak of personal information for approximately 2,500 counseling clients. The exposed details—names, addresses, and phone numbers—could be used for follow-on fraud, targeted phishing, or to locate and threaten individuals formerly involved with organized crime, prompting the center to contact potentially affected people.
