FBI: Smishing Campaign Lures Victims With Unpaid-Toll Notices

The FBI/IC3 warns of an ongoing smishing campaign delivering fake unpaid-toll texts that link to spoofed state toll websites to harvest payment and personal credentials; more than 2,000 reports have been received since early March, and the scam mimics legitimate toll services with state-specific domains and phone numbers. Victims are advised to report messages to IC3, avoid clicking links, verify accounts directly with toll providers, delete scam texts, and secure financial accounts if they engaged with the fraudulent links.
