Why Gen Z Is the New Force Reshaping OT Security

This commentary argues that Gen Z expectations and OT/IT convergence are catalysts for modernizing OT security, replacing weak remote access protocols and fragmented legacy authentication with streamlined identity, fine-grained least‑privilege access, and continuous oversight. It links improved user experience to workforce retention and operational safety, and recommends adopting recognized frameworks (NIST, MITRE ATT&CK), defining risk ownership, participating in sector ISACs, and conducting periodic governance and assessments to keep defenses aligned with evolving threats.
