Recognizing Security as a Strategic Component of Business

This commentary argues that cybersecurity must be integrated as a strategic business function, not a siloed cost center, emphasizing the closer CIO–CISO partnership, security’s role in crisis management, and the importance of tailoring risk communications to customers, executives, and boards. It highlights how emerging AI-enabled security can enhance trust, continuity, and competitive differentiation, urging organizations to align culture, governance, and operations to treat security as a driver of business value.
