Ransomware Developer Extradited, Admits Working for LockBit

A dual Russian–Israeli national, Rostislav Panev, was extradited to the U.S. after being identified as a developer for the LockBit ransomware group; authorities seized administrator credentials and source code for multiple LockBit builders and the StealBit data-exfiltration tool, and court documents indicate cryptocurrency payments from LockBit administrator Dmitry Khoroshev to Panev. LockBit is reported to have attacked over 2,500 victims in 120 countries, collected at least $500 million in ransoms, caused billions in losses, and a $10 million U.S. reward is offered for information on Khoroshev.
