Enterprises Aren't Confident They Can Secure Non-Human Identities (NHIs)

Omdia's report warns that the rapid proliferation of non‑human identities (NHIs)—including service accounts, API keys, certificates, tokens, bots, IoT devices, and AI agents—is outpacing organizational controls, with ~60% of survey respondents expressing low confidence in their ability to secure these identities. The report highlights key risks (hardcoded credentials, poor inventory/visibility, excessive privileges, and operational weaknesses) and urges organizations to adopt robust NHI governance, lifecycle and privilege management, credential best practices, and continuous monitoring to prevent lateral movement and unauthorized access.
