A Defense-in-Depth Approach for the Modern Era

This article argues for evolving defense-in-depth beyond traditional data centers to encompass cloud, SaaS, IoT, and network edges, promoting active router-based security (DPI, SASE/SSE integration, micro-segmentation), zero-trust principles, and AI-driven threat detection combined with crowd-sourced threat intelligence to mitigate modern risks such as ransomware via IoT and zero-day exploits.
