Ukraine, Gaza Wars Inspire DDoS Surge Against Finservs

Financial services organizations have seen a marked increase in politically motivated DDoS activity, with nearly 3,000 Layer 3/4 events reported in the first half of the year and examples of extremely large and prolonged attacks (peaks up to 789 GB/s and multi-day waves). Attackers are using volumetric network/transport-layer vectors and increasingly targeting APIs—an exposure amplified by PSD2—causing outages across multiple institutions and indicating organized, resource-intensive campaigns by hacktivist groups.
