City of Columbus Drops Case on Cyberattack Whistleblower

The City of Columbus suffered a cyber intrusion by the Rhysida ransomware gang that exposed sensitive personal information (names, DOBs, addresses, bank account details, driver's licenses, SSNs) of about 500,000 residents; the data was posted on the dark web, the city engaged responders and law enforcement, and later dropped a lawsuit against a researcher who publicized the leak subject to an injunction.
