Hundreds of Thousands Impacted in Children's Hospital Cyberattack

Lurie Children's Hospital experienced a cyberattack between Jan 26–31, 2024 that disrupted its patient portal and medical record access; the Rhysida ransomware gang claims to have exfiltrated ~600GB and listed the hospital, potentially exposing personal and medical data for approximately 791,000 patients. The hospital went offline, implemented downtime procedures, is notifying affected individuals and offering 24 months of identity monitoring, and reports that no ransom was paid while the investigation remains ongoing.
