DHS Inspector General: Coast Guard Shortcomings Hinder US Maritime Security

The DHS Office of Inspector General reports that the U.S. Coast Guard lacks sufficient staff, training, authority, and cyber expertise to secure the Maritime Transportation System: uptake of free Cyber Protection Team assistance is low, CPT inspections often miss the full scope of cyber threats, and many high/critical vulnerabilities and a sharp rise in ransomware incidents were identified, posing significant risks to supply chains and physical safety.
