Cyber Gangs Aren't Afraid of Prosecution

This commentary examines why law enforcement struggles against cybercrime, citing underfunding, talent shortages, expensive forensic tooling, and weak international cooperation that create advantages for well-resourced cyber gangs and state-backed actors. It warns of growing convergence with organized crime and recommends government action: specialized and segmented cyber units, increased funding, stronger public–private partnerships, and legislative reforms (including sentencing) to restore deterrence and capacity.
