CISA Releases Plan to Align Cybersecurity Across Federal Agencies

CISA released the FCEB Operational Cybersecurity Alignment (FOCAL) plan to create a more consistent, collective defensive posture across federal civilian agencies by focusing on asset management, vulnerability management, defensible architecture, cyber supply chain risk management, and incident response. The report praises the plan’s organizing concepts but warns implementation will be challenged by uneven agency maturity, limited staff and skills, the scale of patching and vulnerability efforts, the prevalence of IoT/OT devices, and coordination across many disparate teams.
