Microsoft, OpenAI: Nation-States Are Weaponizing AI in Cyberattacks

Microsoft and OpenAI reported that several prominent nation-state APTs — Fancy Bear (Forest Blizzard), Charcoal Typhoon, Salmon Typhoon, Crimson Sandstorm, and Emerald Sleet — are using large language models to accelerate tasks such as scripting, intelligence collection, vulnerability research, and phishing/social-engineering; observed use increases attacker efficiency but, to date, has not produced novel or particularly destructive AI-enabled attack techniques.
