KU Leuven researchers analyzed 15 location-based dating apps (including Tinder, Bumble, Grindr, Badoo, Hinge) and found that all leaked sensitive user data via API traffic and that six apps allowed precise trilateration to pinpoint exact user locations; vendors were notified and most trilateration issues were fixed, but some apps continue to expose unnecessary personal data, posing privacy and physical safety risks for users.
