Will AI Save Consumers From Smartphone-Based Phishing Attacks?

Omdia's 2025 Mobile Device Security Consumer Survey finds phishing is the most common smartphone security issue (27% overall; US 40%), followed by malware (26%). The report notes geographic differences in phishing incidence, limitations of current on-device AI scam detection against sophisticated or novel messages, and that consumers often delay updates. It also published a device scorecard (Pixel 10 Pro top) showing no device achieved full anti-phishing protection, and emphasizes continued manufacturer, regulator, and user action to improve security.
