Scattered Spider Cybercrime Members Face Prison Time

The Department of Justice unsealed charges against five members of the cybercriminal group “Scattered Spider,” alleging coordinated phishing campaigns that targeted employees at companies across the United States (including attacks on MGM Resorts and Caesar's Palace). The defendants are accused of harvesting credentials to access systems, exfiltrate intellectual property and personal data, and steal millions in cryptocurrency; four U.S. suspects have been arrested and face federal charges and potential multi-year prison sentences, while a fifth suspect in the U.K. faces related charges.
