Airbus Looks to Acquire Atos Cybersecurity Unit for Nearly $2 Billion

Airbus and Atos have begun preliminary, non-binding talks for Airbus to acquire Atos’ Big Data and Security (BDS) business for €1.5–1.8 billion, a move aimed at accelerating Airbus’ digital transformation and strengthening its defense and cybersecurity capabilities. Industry experts highlight that general IT security is insufficient for aviation’s specialized needs, emphasizing bespoke aircraft and fleet protections, while new regulatory pressures—from TSA requirements in the US and the EU’s Implementing Regulation 2023/203 taking effect in 2025–26—are expected to drive faster adoption of cyber resilience across the aviation sector.
