Chaos ransomware has evolved into a more aggressive C++ variant that combines selective encryption with destructive deletion of very large files and a clipboard-hijacking feature that swaps copied Bitcoin addresses to an attacker-controlled Bech32 wallet; FortiGuard Labs details execution timing, file-size rules (encrypt <50MB, skip 50B–1.3GB, delete >1.3GB), clipboard manipulation via the Windows Clipboard API, AV signatures, and IoCs to aid detection and defense.
