Apple's Anti-Theft Security Slows Down iPhone Crooks

Apple released iOS 17.3 with a Stolen Device Protection feature that restricts sensitive actions (such as using Keychain passwords, payment autofill, erasing the device, applying for a new Apple Card, or setting up a new device) when the iPhone is in an unfamiliar location. The feature requires two-factor authentication on the Apple ID, can be enabled via Settings > Face ID & Passcode, may impose an authentication or one-hour wait for certain changes, and should be turned off before transferring the device.
