Ascension Healthcare Suffers Major Cyberattack

Ascension, which operates 140 hospitals, suffered a cyberattack beginning May 7 that took down EHR systems, MyChart, and some medication and test-ordering systems; the provider paused non-emergency procedures and is diverting some emergency services while operating under downtime protocols. Ascension engaged Mandiant for incident response and is investigating whether any patient data was affected.
