Nissan Oceania Breached; 100K People Affected Down Under

A suspected ransomware attack on Nissan's Oceania corporate and finance systems resulted in the exfiltration of personal data for roughly 100,000 individuals in Australia and New Zealand — including thousands of government ID documents (Medicare cards, driver’s licenses, passports) and tax and employment records. The Akira ransomware group claimed to have stolen 100 GB of data; Nissan says the incident was rapidly addressed, and affected dealers, employees and customers will receive notices.
