Upstream Security reports a nearly 50% year-over-year surge in security incidents affecting automotive and mobility in Q1 2025 (148 publicly disclosed), with ransomware accounting for 45% of incidents and data breaches 63%; attackers commonly use infostealers to harvest OEM/dealer credentials that can enable vehicle access or manipulation, EV charger vulnerabilities are rising, and the number of threat actors targeting the sector jumped from ~300 to ~1,100, driving many high- or massive-risk events.
