Microsoft Trims Cloud Cyberattack Surface in Security Push

Microsoft launched the Secure Future Initiative (SFI) after high-profile intrusions (China-linked Storm-0558 and Russia-linked Midnight Blizzard) that exposed Exchange Online and corporate email accounts; SFI includes removing unused applications and inactive tenants, strengthening Entra ID/MSA token signing key handling, isolating production networks, tightening engineering build pipelines and tokens, and instituting executive accountability to reduce attack surface and improve detection and response.
