Governments, Telcos Ward Off China's Hacking Typhoons

China-linked advanced persistent threat actors (Salt Typhoon, Volt Typhoon, Earth Estries, among others) are targeting telecommunications providers across the US, APAC, MENA and other regions, compromising network infrastructure with backdoors and persistent access to intercept voice and SMS communications and to pre-position for geopolitical conflict; the report highlights significant national-security implications and urges greater adoption of end-to-end encryption and stronger telecom security and supply-chain defenses.
