FCC Proposes New Cybersecurity Rules for Telecoms

The FCC has proposed new cybersecurity rules for telecommunications following large-scale intrusions by the Chinese state–linked group Salt Typhoon that impacted major U.S. ISPs (Verizon, AT&T, Lumen), leading to the compromise of call records and interception of government and political communications; CISA, NSA, and the FBI issued guidance to telecoms while lawmakers and regulators consider immediate and long-term measures to harden networks.
