Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters Snared in Cyber Researcher Honeypot

Resecurity created a honeypot populated with synthetic content blended with outdated breached data to lure members of Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters (aka ShinyHunters); researchers captured screenshots, linked an attacker to Gmail/Yahoo accounts and a US phone number, provided the information to law enforcement, and debated the ethics of using real compromised data in deception operations.
