Forescout analyzed ~19 million devices and found a shifting threat landscape: IT devices still account for most vulnerabilities but IoT vulnerabilities surged (up 136% to 33%), with the riskiest device types including WAPs, routers, printers, VoIP devices, IP cameras, NAS and NVRs; OT risks center on UPS, DCS, PLCs, robotics and building management systems; and IoMT introduces new high-risk medical device categories (medical information systems, ECGs, PACS, infusion/medication-dispensing systems). The report highlights real-world exploitation by botnets and APTs, demonstrates a multi-stage R4IoT proof-of-concept attack chaining IP cameras to workstations to PLCs, and recommends holistic, cross-category exposure and risk management.
