'Phobos' Ransomware Cybercriminal Extradited From South Korea

Evgenii Ptitsyn, a Russian national accused of administering the Phobos ransomware operation, was extradited from South Korea and has appeared in U.S. court; the indictment alleges he and affiliates used Phobos to compromise over 1,000 victims (including schools, hospitals, and nonprofits), extorting more than $16 million via a criminal ransomware-for-affiliates scheme and facing multiple charges under a 13-count indictment.
