Idaho Man Turns to RaaS to Extort Orthodontist

Robert Purbeck illegally purchased access to multiple servers (including a medical clinic and a police department), stole personally identifiable information for roughly 132,000 people (names, addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, police reports), attempted to extort victims for Bitcoin and threatened to release stolen records, and was later arrested, pleaded guilty, sentenced to 10 years in prison, ordered to pay over $1,048,702 in restitution, and given three years of supervised release.
