Collaboration Needed to Fight Ransomware

This commentary examines the LockBit ransomware gang's disruption by law enforcement and swift reemergence, noting the group's organizational maturity, development of a multi-OS encryptor (LockBit 4.0), and tactical shifts toward more robust, decentralized operations and government targets; it argues that sustained public–private intelligence sharing and collaboration with law enforcement are essential to disrupt and deter such professionalized cybercrime operations.
