Whose Data Is It Anyway? Equitable Access in Cybersecurity

This commentary argues that modern cybersecurity failures are largely a data management problem—fragmented logs, proprietary SIEM/SOAR systems, and inconsistent cloud log standards impede detection and response—and calls for industry collaboration and standardization; it cites the March 2024 Change Healthcare breach (suspected nation-state actors, ~6 TB of sensitive data) as an example of the stakes involved.
